Longboard disciplines explained: dancing, downhill, freeride and cruising
"Longboard" might be the least precise word in a brand's catalogue. It covers a dancer flowing cross-steps down a promenade, a downhill rider tucked at highway speed, a freerider sliding sideways through a hairpin, and a commuter pushing to the station — four disciplines that share a name, a length, and almost nothing else. Their boards differ in length, flex, truck geometry and wheel choice, because the riding demands opposite things.

Skateboard deck anatomy: a glossary every new brand should know
Every spec conversation with a factory runs on about twenty words. If you know them, you can describe exactly the board you want and understand exactly what's being quoted back at you. If you don't, you'll spend three email rounds discovering that you and the factory were picturing different decks.
